New Italian Restaurant Opening in Grayson

Antoneta's Italian Restaurant and Pizza off Moon Road will open its doors Thursday.

A new Italian restaurant is opening in Grayson on Thursday (Oct. 3).

It's called Antoneta's Italian Restaurant and Pizza, and it's located off Moon Road in the Bodyplex shopping center.

The family-style restaurant will serve a variety of Italian dishes, from veal to chicken to pasta to seafood, ranging from $10 to $14. It also has New York-style pizzas and calzones, with toppings such as sundried tomatoes, eggplant and artichoke hearts. Tiramisu and cannolis make up the dessert menu, and there's a sit-down bar complete with 18 different wines and nearly a dozen beers.

The Grayson location is the second Antoneta's restaurant by owner Kenny Biba, who named the eatery after his wife. His first location has been open in Dacula for the past 10 years.

Biba said the Grayson establishment, while it's slightly bigger than his first restaurant, will have the same menu items and family-style atmosphere, which matches the vibe that the Gwinnett city gives off.

"Grayson is more of a neighborhood place, like family," said Biba, who has three kids.

Biba has had that family-first mentality ever since he entered the restaurant business when he was 15. He grew up in the Bronx in New York, where he learned how to cook from his father.

And those skills are still used today: As the head chef for Antoneta's, all his dishes are family recipes.

Antoneta's Italian Restaurant and Pizza is located at 2445 Moon Rd. in Grayson. Its business hours are Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Biba also is hiring servers, bartenders, line cooks and hostesses for the Grayson location. Interested applicants should stop by the restaurant for more details.
