Join Walton County's First Cash Mob at 3 p.m. Saturday

Some lucky business is going to be Walton County's first "victim" of a Cash Mob at 3 p.m. today.

Ever heard of a cash mob? Well today you get the opportunity to be part of one. Here is an explanation of one on a Facebook’s News page. The movement is an effort to support local businesses and foster a sense of community – in real as opposed to virtual life. The first one in Walton County has been in the planning stages for a while and today is the day it is set to launch in downtown Monroe.

The way it works is a group uses social media to plan a meet at a local store of choice and spend at least $20 or $30 at that store. The chosen location is kept secret until the day of the planned cash mob. To be part of Walton County's Cash Mob, be at the Historic Courthouse in Monroe at 3 p.m. today, Saturday, May 26, and find out which lucky business will be the first "victim." Don't forget to bring $20 or $30 to spend - it will help support a local business.
