Beverage SuperStore of Grayson Celebrates Groundbreaking Ceremony

Construction of Beverage SuperStore of Grayson has officially begun, as city officials and community members came together this afternoon to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony on Loganville Highway. 

The store will be managed by for the one license in Grayson. His wife, Peggy, owns Grayson Reserves, LLC. 

The plan was once to name the store Grayson Cellars. There may still be a Grayson Cellars in the form of a wine tasting room or a fine wine room, said Tucker, but they decided to name it Beverage SuperStore after the highly successful store in Suwanee by the same name. 

Tucker and his team, which includes Carla Carraway, Randall Dixon and Bill Cornell of Precision Planning, started last fall in their attempt to design a building in hopes that a liquor referendum would pass, and that they would be the ones to build the store. 

“I think you'll find we will have a very, very nice facility here,” said Tucker, “with 15,000 square feet, all brick, and big beautiful awnings. It will be something Grayson will be proud of.” 

Tucker affirmed that they are still right on schedule and will open in the fall. Concrete should be poured next week. 

Mayor Jim Hinkle was among those present at the ceremony. 

“You've done a tremendous job,” Hinkle said. “This will really set us apart from everybody else and will have a major impact. [It's] a wonderful project for us.” 

Tucker estimates that, aside from the construction crew, the store will offer about half a dozen full-time management positions and an additional fifteen or so part-time positions. 

“We think we have all the elements of a successful operation,” he said. “It's a great location, great selection of inventory – which translates to great prices – and great customer service.”
