Loganville American Legion Celebrates 67 Years

Members and residents attended the anniversary dinner for Post 233 on Friday.

Loganville's American Legion Post 233 celebrated its 67th annivesary Friday (Nov. 8) with a dinner and awards ceremony.

Among those in attendance were: Loganville Mayor Dan Curry, many city council members, American Legion Department Of Georgia Commander Lynne Rollins, 2015 endorsed candidate Dale Barnett for American Legion National commander, Department of Georgia Director Pat Garrett for the American Legion Riders, Historian Miriam Stein of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Deparment of Georgia, and Tim and Frankie Stewart and family from Tim Stewart Funeral Home.

Awards were given to John Bushwack for Post Legionnaire of the Year and Eddy Simpson for Post 233 American Legion Rider of the Year.

Roses were given to Sandy Wittenmyer, the Ladies Auxiliary president, for her dedication and devotion to veterans and their families. She also was recognized for her exemplary leadership which helped Post 233 achieve the National Award for Excellence, an honor presented at the Summer National Convention held in Houston back in August.
