Snow Possible for Walton & Gwinnett Counties

Weather alert issued at 4:21 p.m. for our area

special weather statement issued by the National Weather Service calling for light snow showers or flurries this evening and tonight across North and Central Georgia includes the Grayson/Loganville area.

PERIODS OF LIGHT SNOW OR A WINTRY MIX ARE EXPECTED ACROSS PORTIONS OF CENTRAL GEORGIA THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT. NO ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED ACROSS CENTRAL GEORGIA... HOWEVER LIGHT SNOW IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF NORTH GEORGIA WHERE SURFACE TEMPERATURES ARE LOWER MAY RESULT IN MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF LESS THAN A QUARTER OF AN INCH. MOTORISTS SHOULD PROCEED WITH CAUTION AS SOME ROADWAYS MAY BECOME SLICK AS TEMPERATURES ARE LOOKING TO FALL INTO THE UPPER 20S TO LOW 30S OVERNIGHT. VISIBILITIES MAY ALSO BE TEMPORARILY REDUCED IN AREAS OF SNOW SHOWERS.

A Severe Weather Outlook issued at 5:52 p.m. has a continued wind advisory and the potential for light snow accumulation in certain elevations. With our already wet conditions and the high winds, many trees are more susceptible to being uprooted.

Though no accumulation is expected in our area, the dropping temperatures through the evening and night-time hours will make road especially slick.
