Ride for American Honors the Fallen, Supports Those Left Behind

Funds raised by this annual event help support the Legacy Fund, a scholarship for children of the fallen.

The sound of hundreds of motorcycles starting up mixed with strains of patriotic music as the 15th Annual Ride for America set out from the American Legion Post 233 in Loganville on Memorial Day, 2013. The words of Some Gave All could be heard as the more than 746 registered riders prepared to leave for the annual ride to Madison, Ga.

Law enforcement officials closed down Highway 78 east for about 15 minutes to let the bikes, led by the American Legion Forty Et Eight train, head out on the highway. A sea of red, white and blue could be seen as supporters, waving the American flag, lined the streets to cheer the riders on.

The funds raised by this event help support the Legacy Fund, a scholarship for children of the fallen. The ride is organized by the American Legion riders, headed up by Legion rider and co-founder of the event, Stan Mauldin.
