Homeless Hound Looking for a Home for Christmas

Lynn Butler lives in a Loganville neighborhood and for the past six months she has been feeding a large, stray dog.

“She lives here in the front of the subdivision in the bushes,” Butler said. “I think she must have been abused because when she first came here she was very scared of people, but now me and her have become friends. I try and spend time with her every day and to feed and water her.”

Butler named the dog "Jackie" and said the dog now answers to that name. She bought a large carrier for the dog to sleep in, but so far has not managed to coax the dog to go into the cage.

“She’s smart, she won’t go in. She will lie in the rain,” Butler said. “But now, with cold weather coming in, I’m scared she will get cold or sick. I want someone to be able to give her a good home. Someone to love her and take care of her.”

Butler said some people in the neighborhood are not happy about the stray staying around and she is worried that Jackie might face more abuse. The Butlers have an inside dog of their own and do not have a fenced property to keep a large dog.

“She is about 70 pounds and now when she’s happy to see me, she jumps up on me,” Butler said. “She is very sweet. She needs a good home.”

The first thing will be for someone to figure out how to trap the dog and then she will need some care, according to Butler. But she is hoping that there is someone who has a loving home for a dog that has suffered abuse at some point in her life.

“She deserves to be happy. She is so sweet and she will be a good dog for someone,” Butler said.
