"America is Disintegrating"

A discussion about the Left's love affair with Keynesian Economics and why we must reject it.

By Albert Osborn and Mike Crone

“There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.”        John Adams

Our second president, John Adams, was a wise man.  He and his fellow Founding Fathers spilled a great deal of ink warning future generations against making mistakes that would threaten the life of the nation they founded.  But, as Patrick Buchanan’s new book Suicide of a Superpower says, “America is disintegrating.”  It is disintegrating because we have succumbed to the encroachment of the liberal, progressive, socialist Left that has corrupted our culture to the point that it would be unrecognizable to our great grandparents, let alone the founders. We have listened to the siren song of easy credit, the so-called American dream of home ownership (regardless of ability to pay), of the buy-now-pay-later, you-only-live-once attitude of self-centered nihilism.

Many of us have worked hard to accumulate our “stuff,” and, of course, many have been the recipients of the forced re-distribution of our stuff. Either way, we have been so pre-occupied as a nation with attaining, managing, guarding and disposing of our stuff that we forgot about our primary duty as citizens of this great country. We have failed to remember that the great strength of our self-governing republic depends on the character and wisdom of her people. The precise lack of this character and wisdom has been our Achilles heel—our downfall. One might be persuaded to believe that the most important act of a citizen would be to risk one’s life in military service for country (after all didn’t Jesus say: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13 NIV), but, if we don’t perform the most fundamental duty of every citizen, which is to encourage and select upstanding leaders of high moral character to our government, then we will not long have a country worth fighting for.

In order to elect officials who are of high moral character and who will actually uphold, protect and defend our Constitution, we must:

  1. Recognize what high moral character looks like—most of us understand what this means, even if we are not good examples ourselves.
  2. We must know and understand our history, our heritage, and our system of government.
  3. We must know why Capitalism is the only economic system compatible with our system of self-governance and freedom.

Of great concern to our country and its failing economy today is the effect of what economists call “externalities,” or government interference in the free market. Today our Socialist leaders have all but doomed our economy to the scourge of Socialism. Our current leaders have unconstitutionally interfered with our financial institutions by tinkering with the money supply,  by printing money representing wealth that has not been created, by forcing banks to loan money when it was not prudent to do so, by using the good faith of the American people and their taxes to bail out institutions like Fannie and Freddie and others who, as a result of Federal policy, became nearly insolvent. Our current leaders have unconstitutionally taken over private enterprises like GM, unlawfully favoring unions over bond-holders and stockholders in a massive redistribution of assets. Our current leaders have unconstitutionally forced down our throats a healthcare system that requires (for the first time in our history) that we must purchase something. Our current leaders have unconstitutionally used the agencies of government such as the FDA, EPA, FCC, SEC, Department of Education, Department of Justice, Department of Commerce and others, to thwart the rule of law, to go around “we the people” and pass de facto rules that impinge upon our free market economic system and re-make it in the image and likeness of Socialism.

Fellow citizens, we should be “mad as hell.” What was a bad-enough, financial crisis facing us in 2008-09 has been amplified (on purpose) and made into a catastrophe that will, if we don’t resist, collapse our country from within—without a shot being fired.

In order to defend against this we must fight back, but we cannot do so from a position of ignorance. The government has the upper hand with the momentum of years of the embracing of soft socialism, of more and more rules and regulations on business. The creeping scourge has, little by little, taken over. We need to understand the tactics of these people and we need to understand their embrace of Keynesian Economics as the academic justification for more and more government. Without a “free market” we cannot have any freedom, because private property is at the core of our authority over our government. So, learn about the tactics of the left and learn about economics. Here is an article about Keynesian Economics that will help get you started in the right direction:
