"In reference to MLK, I have listened to many of his speeches several times. For those who did not know, he was a Republican. I think that alot of what he said was relevant and true. As far as I know, He promoted non violent civil disobedience for change. I believe he wanted people to be judged not for their skin color but what was reflected from the inside, "the content of their character". And he wanted equality for his people as well as others. I will not fault the man for that. The problem thru the years is that many of the other civil rights activists such as Sharpton and Jackson have corrupted Dr. King's message and intent for their own political agendas. Sharpton and Jackson are media whores...the sad part is that his true message has been warped and many of the people of this generation did not know his true intent. Now, some of y'all may not like what I've just said. I'm White and Southern as the day is long and Conservative also. But, I don't care if you are white, black, red or green. I will treat you with respect and dignity unless you give me a reason not to. I am firmly grounded in my beliefs including religious beliefs but I will not try to shove them down your throat. To me, that is a very personal and private relationship between you and Jesus Christ. I know some people that will never be color blind, and that is their choice. While I don't agree with everything Dr. King did, he did seek out justice for his people. He made a difference and I believe for the most part, a good one."
