"I Want to Know If Our Present Walton County Sheriff Will Stand With Us....?"

If the Feds or Georgia legislature attempt to ban or confiscate personal defense weapons and high capacity magazines will our present Walton County Sheriff join with other Sheriff's across the United States and Georgia in standing against this practice?  Many Democratic legislators in states throughout the country have introduced legislation to confiscate their so incorrectly called "assault weapons" Oregon being one. Will he arrest any Federal agents from the DHS, ATF if they attempt to do so, as other Sheriff's across the country have declared they will? He made a brief statement here a while back about "not showing his hand" until he knew what was coming from Washington. Well, it's obvious what's coming from Washington. We already know what they want to do. They are influencing state legislatures to do their dirty work for them, if they can.....which is illegal by the way since the Supreme Court has already settled the issue. What say you Sheriff Joe Chapman?......we would like a definitive statement if you are going to stand with us or with the Feds? I ask this as no disrespect to you or you Department, but I am very concerned about the push from Washington. 28 of 29 sheriffs in Utah have signed petitions and letters stating they will not allow the Feds to enter their jurisdictions in an attempt to confiscate. Several state legislatures have passed bills allowing for the arrest and imprisionment of federal agents on such a mission.

First of all, stupid legislators will propose stupid bills, it happens. HB3200 has very little chance of passing in Oregon. The American people will not stand for any confiscation of firearms. The most we will ever see is increased background checks and VOLUNTARY buy back programs like Los Angeles does.

Chance of that bill passing in Oregon: 1%
Chance of a similar bill passing in Georgia: .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001

Reason for you to be up in arms?

"It is a very important issue to me and I like to know where our elected officials stand on this issue. I know it was stated that he supported our second amendment but people interpret that many ways. I would just appreciate some further clarification as it relates to my question. And I am not up in arms about it.

For the record the Sheriff's job is to "ENFORCE THE LAW" not interpret them . That means his oath of office requires him to enforce any and all laws passed by the government , not just the ones he personally agrees with.

Have a nice day .

Not if that law is Unconstitutional or illegal. His responsibility is to the Constitution first, the Government second.

Nope... wrong again ,

The Sheriff is not a member of the judiciary . His "opinion" on the Constitutionality of a law is entirely irrelevant .

Tim,

That's called "pandering"....also known as derp.
A law enforcement official who refused to enforce duly passed laws of the state would be in dereliction of duty as well as violation of his oath of office.

This guy's just making noise to pump up the mouth breathers......knowing all along that there is ZERO chance he'll actually have to back his words with actions

I'm not going to continue to argue with you about your opinion. The Supreme Court has already settled the matter that individuals DO have the right to keep and bear arms. He can make a "decision" regardless of his "opinion" to uphold the 2nd Amendment. So, tell that to the thousands of sheriffs across the nation who stand with the one in the link above.

You definitely don't know Joe Arpario of Arizona. He didn't give in to the DHS when they were investigating him and if you think all of the Sheriff's in the US are going to follow any directive to register and confiscate from Washington, you are a Moron....I know what pandering is but not every Sheriff that says he will defy the Feds is pandering you idiot. Get you head out of the sand. There will be a Revolution. And having ties to the Military, I can tell you that many, many soldiers and Marines will stand down, as they did in New Orleans, if directed to confiscate. You are unbelievably Ignorant.

LOL Tim,

Your citation of "cns news" along with your childish name calling forfeits any chance you had to be perceived as a well informed source or anything resembling factual information .

And no one is coming for your guns chum. Relax.

I couldn't care less about your perception of me, or anyone else's perception of me for that matter. Evidently, we are not going to get a response so I have my answer.

Ummm Tim,

The Sheriff doesnt work for the Patch. It's entirely possible he doesnt even read it. If you want an answer I'd suggest adressing your question to the Sherrif as opposed to a random post on the internet .

Just call him up and ask him if he believes in his oath of office or if he would prefer to pander to bugnutty mouth breathers ...
