Would a Hollywood Endorsement Sway Your Vote?

Would you base your vote on an endorsement from a Hollywood celebrity?

Although it is common knowledge that most Hollywood celebrities lean Democratic, there is a portion of Tinsletown that does support Republican candidates. But does it really matter?

After what has now become known as “Eastwooding” for candidate Mitt Romney by Hollywood actor and director Clint Eastwood, and a resounding endorsement of President Barack Obama by actress Eva Langoria, there is little doubt that candidates welcome the “star power.” It isn’t, however, always from whom you would expect.

Eonline reported that Nicki Minaj captured the headlines recently for her support of Romney in a rap song. There have been split allegiances in families such as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie supporting the Democratic platform and their parents throwing any weight they might have behind the Republicans. Huffington Post gives a list of recent celebrity endorsements in the presidential election. But the big question is, with all the big issues that voters have to deal with, do they really care whether or not a celebrity is endorsing the candidate of their choice?

Would your vote for a presidential candidate be influenced by a celebrity endorsement?

I'm a 42-yr old U.S. Army officer. The issues and the candidates' record and position are what will dictate my vote. Celebrities unable to relate to me and my interests (returning heroes who need medical care and jobs, affordable college tuition for my college junior, etc) are mere entertainment. Hopefully, others will take the same, informed stand on Election Day!!!

About as much as I would be influenced by a politician's recommendation on movies.

I'd be willing to sit down in a room with Brad Pitt and listen to what he has to say about politics just so I could swoon over him, but he has no influence over who I'll vote for.

You know Vanzetta, I too would be willing to sit down in person and thoughtfully listen to whatever Brad had to say. I might also like to discuss the issue with Matthew McConaughey -- actually, I don't want to discuss things so much as just listen to him talk about politics or read the phone book or whatever. Love his voice.

From what I've seen Larry subscribes to the Boomhower Method. If you're not a King Of The Hill Fan you totally won't get that.

No Brian, I would never vote for Jimmy Carter. And it's Boomhauer.

I grew up in LA and because of circumstances I had several opportunities to meet and be in close proximity to/with celebrities. Trust me when I say they are collectively incredibly shallow.

The only time celebrities of any kind, have anything close to reality in their life is when they are doing what they do to be celebrities… that is, acting, playing the sport their good at, entertaining etc. Otherwise they have virtually nothing in their life remotely connected to reality. And a lot of that has to do with “swooners”.

So they have no reality ever. I hardly call "acting" reality.

I think the only time celebrities experience reality is when they forget they are human and make mistakes like everyone else. That's also when they are usually the most entertaining.

Of course there are always exceptions. But when we say celebrities we generally are talking about the ones who are not.

And yes acting or playing a sport or entertaining is what they get paid for. So, they have to be serious (maybe aka reality) in order to earn the kind of money they do.

If you or I don’t think it’s real and don’t see the "reality" that it as a very competitive/challenging path so be it. But, it is hard work and that is what I mean by the only time they may be close to reality.

I dont think I am going to follow the opinion of the likes of weirdos like Nicky Minaj, they have money, I dont they fall into the republic column, I dont. Plus I would rather take the opinion of someone with higher morals and values.

Everyone who votes needs to research the candidates and the issues , they need to be an informed voter, fact check them for their truthfulness of their statements. If someone allows anyone to sway their vote because of the persons fame or popularity , they need to pull their voter cards. This is how we got to we're we are now. Hollywood or the record labels are the last place you should be looking for an answer .
