Variance for 3-Story Apartments on Loganville City Council Work Session Agenda

Loganville will have the first work session of the city council at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall.

The Loganville City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, for the January work session. The regular voting session will follow on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, also at 7:30 p.m.

Included on the agenda is an application by Mahaffey Pickens Tucker, LLP to increase the height for proposed apartments and units per acre at Old Zion Cemetery and Highway 78 in Loganville. According to officials, the property is already zoned for two-story apartments - the variance requested would allow for the apartments to go up another story.

Since I travel this exact location everyday twice a day, I have to say NO WAY can we possibly accommodate any additional traffic or pedestrians at this location. What are they thinking? There would have to be major improvements to the entire intersections at Hwy 78, Hwy 81, Lee Byrd Road and Old Zion Cemetery Road, if this is to happen. Also renters do not increase our tax base the same as individual property owners.
