South Gwinnett High School Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Valedictorian - Rachel Harris

Rachel Harris, daughter of Peter and Jean Harrison, is the 2011 Valedictorian at South Gwinnett High School. She will be attending Brandeis University with plans to major in biochemistry. Harris is the recipient of an Alumni and Friends Scholarship of $16,910 per semester, $500 from Maxxis and has several other scholarship offers. She has been nominated for the Governor’s Honors Program and an AP Scholar Award among others. In her community activities she has been a Friend of Norris Lake and a Silver Award recipient from the Girl Scouts of America. Harris is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to pursue a career in research.

Salutatorian - Jessica Williamson

Jessica Williamson, daughter of Michael and Teresa Williamson, is the 2011 Salutatorian at South Gwinnett High School. She will be attending the University of Georgia with plans to major in biology. Williamson has received or been offered several scholarships and awards, which include the 2011 University of Georgia Charter Scholarship for $4,000, Phi Beta Kappa Award and the National Society of High School Scholars. Williams placed 10th at Pinto World Championship Horse Show in Tulsa, Okla. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in Relay for Life and BETA Club. Williamson has been a member of the Shiloh Horse Ranch Equestrian Team for the past four years and plans to pursue a career possibly as a veterinarian or nutritionist.
