Caterpillar held a groundbreaking event for its new Oconee-Athens facility on Friday, March 16.
Gray Construction has been contracted to build the one-million-square-foot plant that will employ 1,400 and manufacture small track-type tractors and mini hydraulic excavators. Production is slated to begin in late 2013.
