Details are not yet available, but the Wages Funeral Home site has posted the death notice of Maxie Price Sr., the founder of the Maxie Price Cevrolet dealership in Loganville. Price is reported to have died on Jan. 20, 2013 at his home in St. Augustine Shores, Fla. He was 77.
Price was well known, not just in the local circle, but across the southeast. Prior to a serious car accident that left him paralyzed some years back, Price was known as the “John Wayne of car dealer ads,” according to a 2002 article on him in Biz Journal. He was the star of his ads, often seen with his “crying towel.” It was Price who coined the phrase, “Where’s Loganville?”
Price is reported to have started out in the car business in 1957. He began his first dealership in 1961.
Obituary and funeral arrangements will be posted as soon as they are available.
