Loganville Teen Headed to Miss Georgia Competition

Rising senior at Loganville Christian Academy and current Miss Gwinnett County Outstanding Teen, Kayla Watson, is headed to Columbus, Ga. next week to compete for the state teen title.

Representing Gwinnett County, Kayla Watson, a rising senior at Loganville Christian Academy, will be competing at the Miss Georgia’s Outstanding Teen Pageant next week in Columbus, Georgia. The pageant is the state teen program for Miss America, the world’s largest provider of scholarships for young women.

Kayla competed and won the title of Miss Gwinnett County’s Outstanding Teen this past fall, and will compete at Miss Georgia for a full college scholarship, and the chance to represent the state at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant in Orlando. She will compete in talent, interview, evening gown and fitness.

Avidly promoting her platform, “Angels in Disguise,” an organization that she founded nearly two years ago to promote anonymous acts of kindness, Kayla routinely volunteers her time to speak to elementary school children and has spoken to more than 1,200 kids through her organization’s Kindness Klubs. Angels in Disguise currently has “angels” in seven states, promoting the organization’s philanthropy of performing charitable acts anonymously. Actively involved in many other charities, Kayla recently hosted a fashion show that raised $800 for Children’s Miracle Network, the official charity of the Miss America Organization. She was recently honored by the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners with a Resolution of Recognition for outstanding service, and has received five Presidential Volunteer Service Awards from the President of the United States. A varsity football cheerleader at Loganville Christian Academy, Kayla is also a member of the Beta Club and the National Honors and Merit Scholars Society.

No stranger to the spotlight, Kayla has held state, national and international pageant titles, and has graced the pages of glamour magazines worldwide. Most recently, she was selected as a Top 25 cover model for Four Points Magazine, the official magazine of Miss America. She is also featured in the spring edition of Tiara Magazine, a pageant magazine that is distributed to 126 countries.

The pageant competition will be webcast live on the Miss Georgia website, www.missga.org.
