Loganville Mayor Announces He Will Be Running For Re-election in 2013
It may seem a little early to announce, but Mayor Ray Nunley said he is getting the information out early to dispel any rumors of his retirement.
Nobody was more surprised to hear he was going to retire at the end of his term than Mayor Ray Nunley himself.
“I would just like it to be made known that I do intend to run for re-election in 2013,” Loganville Mayor Ray Nunley said, adding he was making the announcement early in an effort to dispel any rumors to the contrary.
The mayor said he had been contacted by a resident expressing surprise after hearing that he would be retiring at the end of his current term. Nunley was surprised to hear it too.
“I have no intention of retiring,” Nunley said. "And I want to make that clear."
After the City of Loganville adopted a new charter, Nunley was re-elected unoppoed in 2010 to serve a three-year term on the way to newly adopted four-year terms. Nunley was first elected to a two-year term in 2008. He was also unopposed in that election. He is up for re-election in 2013 to serve what would be a third term as mayor and the first of a four-year term. The mayor said he is making the announcement early to avoid any confusion about his intentions.
“I will definitely be running for another term in 2013 and and just wanted to get that on the table now,” Nunley said.
