Loganville's Base Jumper – the Mystery Deepens

It would appear that Loganville, Ga. does indeed have a base jumper. It was not an April Fool's hoax after all.

On April 1, a credible source reported off the 60.7m radio tower on Piney Grove Road in Loganville, Ga. Although it was reported to have happened at about 7 p.m., the date made the whole incident a little suspect. But since the credible source was in fact a member of law enforcement, it seemed a little unlikely it was a hoax. However, a search by authorities was unable to recover any evidence of a jumper.

A spokesperson with the said the person who reported it said this was not the first time he had heard a parachute open in the area of the radio tower. A search of YouTube by Patch, however, did not turn up a Loganville base jumper. YouTube is often the “Go to” location for such events to appear. For a while, it looked like it might actually be an April 1 joke after all. But then a couple of days ago someone left a cryptic message in comments.

The message was, “No one will say anything and the video will never be uploaded. Sorry to burst your bubble.”

Ah, maybe there was indeed a base jumper and just maybe, there is a video - somewhere. Also, someone else has come forward reporting that they actually saw him. Jean moon, who lives in the area, said she saw someone land near Center Hill Church Road.

“I thought it was very strange to see a lone jumper in that area at that time of the evening,” Moon wrote on a Facebook page that carried the story.

So the question remains, who is Loganville’s base jumper?

We would like to reiterate though that this activity is illegal, and for good reason. Many base jumpers have been severely injured or killed according to a Blinc, a base jumpers website. More information about the practice, including penalties, can be found on the bLinc magazine website.
