Local Musicians Rock Out in Loganville for a Good Cause

Loganville group Critical Velocity hosted the event at Atmosphere in Loganville to raise money for the Red Cross.

Local musicians descended on Atmosphere in Loganville on Saturday to provide some music to the area and at the same time help fellow citizens in the Hurricane Sandy ravaged north.

When the evening was over, more than $1,700 was raised for the Red Cross to distribute to Hurricane Sandy victims through donations, cover charges and silent auction items. Volunteers helped with getting the word and taking up the collections. Music was provided by Redneck Blonde, James Beard Experiment, Daybreaker and Critical Velocity.

Great job, but why stop there you might ask. Well they don’t intend to. The next event, scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at Friends Bar in Dacula, is a Toys for Tots musical event. Music lovers are again invited to rock out for a good time - and to bring along a toy for a child in need. This is another Party with a Purpose for music lovers who want to feel good about having a good time.

Don't be shy, if you were there, upload your photos - smart phone pics welcome!

This was Jon Donagan, of Day Breaker's Idea and Tracey McLaughlin with Critical Velocity took the idea and ran with it. She got most of the Sponsors and Silent auction items donated and found the venue...then promoted. Jamie Dempsy with the Greater Eastside Chamber of Commerce was a big help too! Props to Atmosphere for hosting and donating their sound guy and giving the cover charge to the cause. It was a great event!
