I'm here in Midtown Manhattan. The city is handling these emergency situations with great response and professionalism. I am unable to get out of the city as all bridges, tunnels and airports are closed. Pray for the ones who are displaced by flooding and those without power. Will send some photos if I am able.

Wow Madolyn, what are you doing up in NY? Do you have family there? I know we have people like Kim Roberto from Loganville who has parents there. I'm sure some of our emergency workers will be headed that way as soon as they can get in.

Sharon,
My parents are in the Jersey Shore area right where the storm touched down. (Not NYC). They are spending their 2nd night in a shelter due to no electricity in most of the state, flooded streets everywhere, and live power lines and trees down in the streets. Part of the Seaside Heights boardwalk was washed into the ocean. The shore area is a mess, as are the homes and businesses near the water. Many people (inc. Mom and Dad) can't get to their homes to see if they are still standing. The clean-up is going to take a very long time. It's massive destruction.

Kim, I'm watching Gov. Christie right now - he looks devastated. Is your parents' home on the Jersey Shore. I'm so sorry - that looks really bad.
