Happy Valentine's Day from Patch

Patchwide Valentine's Day Wishes shared from our Parkville-Overlea Patch and the Pride of Baltimore Chorus.

Happy Valentine's Day from Parkville-Overlea Patch and the Pride of Baltimore Chorus.

Quartets from the chorus will be delivering singing Valentines all day long as part of a fundraiser that helps them to compete locally, nationally and internationally.

The Pride of Baltimore Chorus, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, meets at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Cub Hill and has members who travel from all over Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware and New Jersey, according to the group's director Joe Cerutti.

The group competed at the international level against choruses from as far off as New Zealand, Australia, Sweden and Germany and took second place in 2004, 2006 and 2008, Cerutti said.

Cerutti, who travels to Cub Hill from Alexandria, VA most Mondays, is no slouch himself. At 30, he's a certified judge with the Barbershop Harmony Society — an international men's choral association, and is one of the youngest members ever to be named a master director in the group.

"This group is the best, I've been with them for just over two years," Cerutti said. "We started putting together the Valentine's Day quartets around the first of the year, and we've been practicing ever since."

Cerutti said that the group is focused on competition, but that anyone can join.

"Rarely do we have anyone with training or a music background," he said. "This is an amateur sport, we're fortunate to be the best."
