Gwinnett Braves Lose; Playoff Hopes Still Alive

Durham wins a critical game Tuesday.

The Gwinnett Braves lost to Durham 4-3 on Tuesday and with that virtually any hope of winning the IL South title. With seven games left in the season, the G-Braves trail Durham by 3 1/2 games and their best hope for playoffs appears to be the wild card.

Gwinnett now heads for Norfolk; Wednesday the teams will complete a rain-suspended game and then follow with the regularly scheduled contest. The G-Braves are tied with Lehigh Valley for the wild-card lead.

In Tuesday's game, Durham's Russ Canzler had a single in the eighth inning for the winning run.

Gwinnett's Mauro Gomez had an RBI, and Stefan Gartrell and Wilkin Ramirez had two hits each.
