Graystone Church To Offer A Day of Service

The church congregation will spend Sunday serving the community instead of attending a regular Sunday morning service.

Graystone Church in Loganville is starting a tradition in the local area on Sunday that it hopes will show that its members don’t just go to church – they are the church.

“Grayson Church will be having its first ever Graystone Serves community service project,” said Jim Hollandsworth, executive pastor at Graystone Church. “That Sunday morning, instead of our regular worship services, our entire congregation will be out in the Grayson/Loganville community participating in 25 different service projects.”

Hollandsworth said the projects would range from clean-up at Tribble Mill Park to work at Cooper and Tripp elementary schools and home makeovers for residents in need. They will also be cooking meals for the fire department and collecting food for the SE Gwinnett Co-op.

“The purpose of this event is simply for our church to serve the community around us,” Hollandsworth said. “We want the community to know that we're involved and engaged in community service. We want to spend a Sunday morning serving others.”

The will be a brief service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning and then the congregation members will fan out around the community serving on the various projects they’ve been assigned.
