Grayson's Austin Meadows Named Georgia's Best Baseball Player

The outfielder was picked by MaxPreps as the state's top high school player.

Grayson outfielder Austin Meadows is the best high school player in Georgia, according of a state-by-state listing of top baseball talent compiled by MaxPreps.

Here’s what MaxPreps had to say about the left-hander:

"Meadows could be the top high school position player chosen in the MLB Draft. He was named All-County by the Gwinnett Daily Post last year after batting .390 with 19 stolen bases, 4 home runs, 28 RBIs and 33 runs scored."

Meadows, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound Clemson University signee, led Grayson to the large-school (then Class AAAAA) semifinals last season.

He also was a member of the Team USA Under-16 team in 2011.

Grayson opens its season Feb. 16 at Winder-Barrow.
