Fourth Loganville Resident To Seek District 107 Seat

Former Loganville City Councilman Michael Lynch is the fourth Loganville resident to announce his intentions to run for the District 107 seat in the Georgia House of Representatives vacated by Rep. Len Walker.

Lynch, an Army veteran, said on his return from active duty that he wasn’t ready to get back into politics just yet, but hinted that public office would likely be in his future. Lynch’s wife, , made a successful run for a seat on the Loganville City Council while her husband was away and unable to contest his seat, effectively replacing him on the council

While many believed Lynch might make a run for a seat on the Gwinnett County Commission, Lynch has instead thrown his hat into the ring for a seat under the Gold Dome.

“I will be a Representative who will keep my constituents interests at heart,” Lynch said in a press release. “Too often elected officials fail to remember the reason they are in office, to serve their constituents. Serving in the state legislature I will maintain clear and constant communication with all constituents willing to voice their opinions, and I will ensure that all activity occurring in the assembly is clearly communicated to everyone in the district.”

The other three Loganville candidates who have already announced their intention to run include , and Mark Banks. Qualifying for the District 107 seat begins Monday.

Georgia Secretary of for Monday, Jan. 9, through Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012. Qualifying on Monday will run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.; on Tuesday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Candidates will qualify in the Elections Division of the Office of Secretary of State, 802 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, SE, Atlanta, Georgia 30334. The qualifying fee is $400.
