Does Loganville Have a Base Jumper?

An unknown person was reportedly seen "base jumping" off the radio station tower that is on Grady Smith Road in Walton County. Do you know who it was?

recently responded to a report from a credible source that an unknown individual was seen “base jumping” off the 60.7m radio tower off Piney Grove Road. The incident was reported on April 1, although at 7 p.m. so technically it shouldn’t qualify for an April 1 gag. A spokesperson with the WCSO said the person who reported it said this was not the first time he had heard a parachute open from someone jumping off the tower. WCSO reports that on this occasion, despite a search by fire officials and various deputies, no evidence of anybody, or any body, was found.

A search by Patch of Youtube currently does not show any Loganville base jumper – well not at this time anyway.

Wikipedia defines “base jumping” as an activity where participants jump from any fixed objects using a parachute to break their fall. The term “base” is reportedly an acronym from B.A.S.E. which stands for the four fixed objects that qualify – buildings, aerials, spans (bridges) and earth (cliffs). The radio station tower off Grady Smith Road in Loganville would qualify. The activity however, is illegal and for good reason. Many base jumpers have been severely injured or killed according to a Blinc, a base jumpers website. More information about the practise, including penalties, can be found on the bLinc magazine website.
