Did the Closing of Best Buy Leave a Ghost Town in North Logan Commons?

There are a number of "For Lease" signs and empty store fronts in North Logan Commons, Loganville, the center that was once home to Best Buy. What would you like to see locate in the center?

Since Best Buy in North Logan Commons in Loganville went out of business, signs have been popping up all over, but not the kind of signs you want to see. There are more "Space for Lease" signs than just for Best Buy. ChinaStar Buffet has since gone out of business and other store fronts next to restaurant, that once held so much promise for a new business to set up, still have the "For Lease" signs up."

Residents learned in April that the Best Buy, in the North Logan Commons Center was one of the 50 stores closing across the United States. It was one of two that closed in Georgia. By the end of May the store was empty and the doors closed for good. Best Buy plans to revamp its retail model, beginning by closing a number of its big-box retail locations and opening small-scale mobile locations throughout the United States. One of those mobile outlets is already up and running at the Northlake Mall in Tucker, Ga.

Although Lowe's, PetSmart, OfficeMax and Dicks Sporting Goods are still anchor stores in the center, Best Buy was one of the key anchors.

What would you like to see in the Best Buy store to help attract other businesses to fill the empty stores?

I love all those suggestions Ben. I just wish they could be sure of the support of shoppers. Obviously Best Buy didn't get the support it needed or it wouldn't have been one of the two. I do, however, think that a clothing store - maybe one of the discount clothing stores - might have a better shot at it.

Trader Joe's. Kohl's or Belk. And we really need a closer Target!

A library or a Boys and Girls Club! Something for the kids, somewhere for them to go and hang out.

I just don't want it to be a tire or auto parts store. Trader Joe's or a Whole Foods would be nice.

I would love to see Target move in. On target.com they offer coupons that save us all money which is very important in these times......

Trader Joes or a Whole foods market would be really great. A New York bagel place or deli.

I'm with Lisa here. I think maybe Best Buy was too much of a targeted market. I think Target would appeal to a larger shopping base and would help revitalize that whole center.

Target should go across the street in Faiths Crossing shopping center, it was talked about but not sure what happened to that deal.

Target. I just bought a pair of shoes that are nicer than I've bought in years. Their quality is great. I have been shoppng there since WalMart's quality has gone down hill. I may pay less, but to pay less for a pair of shoes I'll have to return 3 times because they're made od plastic just isn't worth it.

My son bought a bike at Walmart, and had to return it after the steering wheel fell off while riding it downhill. He could have been hurt! This was after he had bought one for his daughter, and the pedals fell off of that one. He got another one, and same thing happened, even after he came right behind them and tightened all th bolts. Just bad quality. He went to target, and the bike is sturdier, and cost him about the same thing. I still like Walmart (Scenic Hwy. and others), just not this one. Sorry for the slide, just didn't finish the other comment before hitting submit. lol

Target would be great in the Best Buy location. Also love Kohl's. In the smaller spots they could put in Justice for girls, claire's, Aeropostle, Abercrombie, etc. smaller clothing stores and boutiques.

I don't think Best Buy closing caused any of the other stores to go out of business. That shopping center has never been 100% occupied - along with the centers at Kroger, Publix and the Sharon Church Road/GA 20 gas station area among others.

Yes, Trader Joe's or Whole foods. Something that caters to real cooks. Bring in some quality stores and give it an Avenues look. Maybe cooking ware, good bread/bagel bakery, and shoe stores on the side.

I vote for Target. Or maybe Toys R'Us (before Christmas would be nice on that one!)

I would like to see Aldi come to Loganville. They were once interested in building across the street from N. Logans Commons. It seems to me that Best Buy could easily be converted to suit their needs.

We sure could use a Sams Club or Costco in this area or maybe even an International Market where we can purchase items at a much more reasonable cost.

A Home Goods and TJ Maxx would be good.....would then eliminate the need to go to Snellville or Athens!

Sounds like no one likes to drive on Scenic Highway anymore! I remember thinking it was great not having to drive to Gwinnett Mall anymore. Now we don't want to even go 5 miles. Back to the bicycle.

Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Aldi would be my top picks. Kohl's would be nice too and certainly a movie theatre. Target needs to come here soon and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that plans are already in the works for that. Of course, the old Ingles location has been sitting vacant for far too long too, but I'm guessing the current Ingles wouldn't be agreeable to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods or Aldi coming in there...

Loganville needs a movie theater or playhouse. I would also like to see a Stein Mart, Dress Barn, Kohl's, Target, Newk's Cafe (very popular and very few), Chipotle's, a BBQ restaurant, Charming Charlie's, Claire's . . .

I think a movie theatre is a fantastic idea!! whole foods would be a great second. Our city council needs to contact these merchants and try to build up Loganville, they are wanting us to buy local so go out there and get us some good shops to go to!!
