Broun Getting to Know New Constituents
U.S. Rep. Paul Broun has spent much of his campaign efforts just getting to know new constituents.
Although he’s technically the incumbent, U.S. Rep. Paul Broun has spent much of his first couple of weeks of the campaign getting to know his constituents. With redistricting, the 10th Congressional District that Broun is hoping to represent is quite different to the one he currently represents. As a result, many of the voters don’t yet know him.
In order to rectify, this Broun began his campaign last month with a 25-county bus tour that brought him through Walton County with stops in Loganville and Monroe. Accompanying him through the county was Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman.
A medical doctor, Broun is campaigning hard on his opposition to Obamacare. He is touting his bill, the Patient OPTION Act, as the answer to the country’s health care problems.
“It is a 51 page bill that will repeal and replace Obamacare with health insurance that will cover all Americans,” Broun said, adding “Except for those covered under Medicare and state plans like the one here in Georgia, which is Peach Care.”
Broun said he has met many people on his bus tour through the newl-drawn district. He said he found the most important things to them remain restoring the economy and creating jobs, something he feels the presidents current health care plan hurts more than helps. Broun also promised constituents he would "continue fighting against the governments wasteful spending.”
“The government just has to get the debt and spending under control,” he said.
Before earning his medical degree, Broun served in the Marines and is a current member of the U.S. Navy Reserves. He has been married to to Niki Broun for 27 years and is the father of three adult children and has two grandchildren.
He is facing newcomer Stephen Simpson of Milledgeville in the July 31 primary, which will decide the race. No Democrat qualified to run for the 10th Congressional District.
More information about Broun can be found on his website.

He has been married to Niki Broun for 27 years? When in the world did he have time to fit in his first three marriages?

Is he still a medical doctor? He lost his license for practicing illegally, which isn't a surprise since he embezzled campaign funds. I am pretty sure that he just says he is a doctor but isn't.

Broun I'm afraid just isn't very bright.

Broun is a disgrace and has been called named "The Stupidest Man in Congress" which is REALLY saying something. I was extremely unhappy that I was rezoned into his district at least I will have the opportunity to vote against him.
