Breakfast at Zaxby's? It must be Athens

Southeast chicken company is testing a breakfast menu in Athens, Ga.

Zaxby’s is taking a seat at the breakfast table, but only in Athens, Ga. at the moment.

Zaxby’s will soon start offering Kickin’ Chicken Biscuit Meal, Bacon Benedict Meal, Oatmeal Bowl, Taterz and Gritz. Eight Athens area restaurants are participating in a breakfast pilot program, which starts in August and September. Zaxby’s will serve breakfast from 6 a.m. through 10:30 a.m.

“Our guests have long requested breakfast offerings from the brand,” said Stephanie Struble, Zaxby’s senior director of brand development. “We have developed a unique prototype breakfast menu that features and complements Zaxby’s signature favorites. Sharing our new breakfast offerings with the guests in our hometown of Athens feels very natural.”

The company will test breakfast at the Athens-area locations for about one year. Officials plan to expand the test to additional markets in the future.

The new menu will feature 20 breakfast items for Morning Mealz: the Chicken Finger Biscuit Meal and the Kickin’ Chicken Biscuit Meal, Benedict Meal and the Panzini Meal, both with a choice of bacon or sausage. All Zaxby’s Morning Mealz are complemented with a side of Taterz or Gritz and a 12 oz. Coffee or 22 oz. Beverage.

The menu will also offer breakfast sides like the oatmeal bowl, yogurt bowl and fruit bowl, as well as breakfast bites and a cinnamon sugar biscuit, plus milk, chocolate milk, apple juice, orange juice, coffee, Coca-Cola soft drinks and iced tea.

“Offering breakfast is the next logical step in our growth, and we are very excited to share the breakfast menu with our guests,” said Zach McLeroy, CEO and co-founder of Zaxby’s. “We’ve worked to develop a menu that incorporates Zaxby’s unique flavor and offers original menu options that everyone can enjoy.”

Got it today for first time. They must be frying there sausage in the same grease as the chicken. My chicken tasted exactly like sausage. But the biscuit was amazing. Hopefully theyll learn not to mix the 2.
