Bluegrass Concert In Grayson City Park Saturday

Organizers say it's more of a jam session and musicians from all genres are welcome to join in.

It’s billed as a Bluegrass Concert, but the musician who helped organized it, Eddie Rawlins, said it’s really more of a jam session.

“It's on the last Saturday of the month at the city park in Grayson and it’s really a bunch of guys and girls who get together and play music,” Rawlins said,  adding he had to go ahead and get a PA system because it got so big. "It’s kind of a good evening of music.”

The concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Grayson city park and Rawlins said not only is anybody welcome to go out and listen, but other musicians are welcome to join in too.

“It’s an interesting sort of get together and most of these guys and the ladies can back up anyone most of the time,” Rawlins said. “It’s an interesting mix from all genres. We have bluegrass, gospel, country and ballads. People can join in if they play music or if they don't - even if they just sing - they're welcome too. Some are really good, and some aren't, but we don't mind. It’s in the pavilion behind city hall and we do it, rain or shine. Most of the time these summer storms will blow over and we just go at it again."

The event takes place the last Saturday of every month through the summer. September is the last month it will run. Grayson City Administrator Laura Paul-Cone advised attendees to bring their own chairs, blankets and refreshments for the event.
