Beverage Superstore of Grayson Back on City Agenda

The Grayson City Council meet at 7 p.m. tonight and a public hearing will consider a sign variance for Beverage Superstore of Grayson. The agenda also includes consideration of a revised ordinance on Sunday sales of packaged liquor.

The Regular September Grayson City Council meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight at the Grayson government buildings on Grayson Parkway. The meeting is open to the public.

There will be a public hearing at the start of the meeting to consider a sign variance for the Beverage Superstore of Grayson. The city will also consider the following items of new business.

NEW BUSINESS:

  • DDA Map amendment
  • Sanitation RFP discussion/Awarding of Contract
  • Consideration of Revised Ordinance Permitting sales of Beer, Malt Beverages, Wine and Distilled Spirits by the Package on Sundays .

At last month's meeting, the City of Grayson called for a referendum to be put on the ballot in November that will allow for Sunday sales to extend to the retail sale of liquor as well. The original ordinance, however, could have possibly resulted in the Sunday packaged sales of beer, wine and malt beverages being pulled if the referendum failed. That measure was passed in a referendum last year and grocery and convenience stores in the city have been able to engage in the retail sale of beer, wine and malt beverages since then.
