Hunter Defeats Beaudreau in Gwinnett County District 3 Runoff

Challenger Tommy Hunter narrowly defeated incumbent Commissioner Mike Beaudreau in the Runoff Election on Aug. 21.

Gwinnett County District 3 will have a new commissioner in January. Challenger Tommy Hunter narrowly defeated incumbent Commissioner Mike Beaudreau in the Aug. 21 Runoff Election. With absentee ballots not yet included, and 38 of 39 precincts counted, Hunter got 4,577 or 50.31 percent of 9,098 votes cast. Although it was possible the absentee ballots could technically make a difference, Beaudreau gave a concession speech at Summit Chase County Club in Snellville. He told supporters he was looking forward to spending time with his family. He said, however, he was still a District 3 resident and would be holding Hunter accountable.

In the Non Partisan Superior Court Judge race, with 130 of 156 precincts reporting, the following results were recorded.

  • Tracy Mason Blasi   6,550  -  30.17 percent
  • Kathy Schrader     15,161  -  69.83 percent

In the Non Partisan State Court Judge race, with 130 of 156 precincts reporting, the following results were reported.

  • Pam Britt             8,537  -  40.38 percent

These results are unofficial without the inclusion of absentee ballots.

The Post this morning didn't even mention the real reason Beaudreau was voted out for most of us. It's because he was for commercialization of the airport. I hope Hunter keeps this in mind.

I agree about the airport deals done behind our backs. However, don't forget the Solid Waste deals ,land deals, lack of progress in prosecuting those who bribed our elected officials or those who took the bribes. Or, you can forget it and play nice like nothing happened in Gwinnett as Ms. Lasseter wanted.

I voted for Tommy to see if he can let me have a few pet chickens at my home for fresh eggs. If he can allow us that freedom then I will vote for him every time. I can't imagine it is so much worse than my neighbors German shepherds that bark all day and crap all over the yard. Chickens are way cleaner and I get fresh eggs.
