Lynch Enters the Georgia District 107 Race

Former Loganville Councilman Michael Lynch has announced his candidacy for State House District 107.

I will be a Representative who will keep my constituents' interests at heart. Too often elected officials fail to remember the reason they are in office, to serve their constituents. Serving in the state legislature I will maintain clear and constant communication with all constituents willing to voice their opinions, and I will ensure that all activity occurring in the assembly is clearly communicated to everyone in the district.

I will represent this district in the General Assembly as one who understands the problems Georgia families face every day. I understand the worries that accompany raising children, balancing a mortgage payment, saving for a child’s education, and everything in between. I also understand that we certainly don’t need any additional impediments placed in our way as we pursue our personal goals. Prior to the economic downturn, the East Gwinnett/West Walton area experienced phenomenal growth, most of which was positive. I can bring representation to the state level that will insure Georgia can maintain an advantage in attracting high quality business resulting in more employment opportunities for Georgians.

There are several state concerns that stand out to me such as public safety, education and youth and senior initiatives. My experience and background provide me with knowledge to work with the House of Representatives with various issues. Regarding public safety, I plan to fight for adequate state funding for local emergency services to insure that we not only have the best quality personnel but the best equipment and training. I can attest to the quality of our emergency services personnel first hand as a result of my time as a volunteer with Walton County Fire Rescue, and I will be a strong advocate for them so they can continue to provide first rate service to the community. I will work to see a return within the Georgia school system to provide greater emphasis on physical fitness for our youth. Georgia ranks second nationally in percentage for childhood obesity and this is simply unacceptable. Health Care for our elderly is a primary concern. I would like to insure the widest possible coverage for our Georgia seniors, insuring that adequate coverage is available for those needing it.

As a former City of Loganville Councilman, I am familiar with the parliamentary process. From 2008 to 2010 I served as the Chairman for the Planning and Zoning Committee. I had the opportunity to, with the committee, bring resolve to residential code conflicts as well as collaborating with local businesses. During my tenure on the Council I assisted in bringing to fruition a new city firehouse, the completion of the Livable Centers Initiative study, a new city water tower, an unchanged millage rate, a new city park, as well as many other additions and improvements to the City of Loganville. My experience in our local government body provides me with insight to properly introduce measures and push them through for a vote in the State Legislature.

My career in the Army has brought me through a wide spectrum of titles and duties. After initially serving as a Combat Medic, I was commissioned as a Medical Officer. During my last tour of duty, I was triple-hatted as Company Commander, Chief of Security and Deputy Chief of Operations for our brigade. The U.S. Army has prepared me for any and all tasks presented to me, and I complete them all with the core values instilled in me by my service with the Army. During my civilian career, I have had the pleasure of working in sales and management for some of the largest corporations in the world including McGraw Hill and LG.
I am 39 years old, living within Loganville City limits on the Gwinnett County side. I am married to current Loganville City Councilwoman, Michelle Lynch. We have three elementary aged children currently attending school within the Gwinnett County School System. I am lucky to have family living very close to me and frequently visit with my sister and parents, who all currently live in District 107 as well. I am a graduate from both Brookwood High School in Snellville and West Georgia State University.
